Anahat Singh wins the PSA Challenger title at the Costa North Coast Open

The 16-year-old defeated Akari Midorikawa, the sixth-seeded player from Japan, 3-0 in consecutive games (11-6, 11-6, 11-7), earning him the third seed in the competition.

Anahat Singh, a teenage squash sensation, won the women’s singles title at the Costa North Coast Open 2024 in Coffs Harbour, Australia, on Sunday, earning her sixth PSA Challenger victory of the year. The 16-year-old, who was seeded third in the event, defeated Akari Midorikawa, the sixth seed from Japan, 3-0 in straight games (11-6, 11-6, 11-7).

She performed flawlessly throughout the competition, losing just one match.Following her earlier victories over Bobo Lam and Helen Tang of Hong Kong in the early stages, she defeated Kirstie Wong, the seventh seed from Hong Kong, 3-1 in the semifinals (11-5, 7-11, 11-7, 11-9).

Because of her seeding, Anahat, who took home bronze in the women’s team and mixed doubles competitions at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, was given a bye in the opening round.

She won both the Hamdard Squashters Northern Slam PSA Challenger championship in April and the JSW Willingdon Little Masters and Senior Tournament title in January earlier this year.In August, she won the Reliance PSA Challenge 3 Tournament, and in June and August, she won the Chennai and Kolkata legs of the HCL Squash Tour, respectively.

After making it to the final of the Dynam Cup SQ-Cube Open in Japan, Anahat was forced to miss the championship match against Ruqayya Salem of Egypt because of an injury. Additionally, she has won this year’s junior and senior Nationals.
