Kumble finds the decision of KKR captain NitishRana strange as he didn’t give an over to Shardul against PBKS.
Kolkata Knight Riders maintained their winning momentum as they defeated Punjab Kings on Monday in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2023 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After losing the toss, KKR was asked to field first, something captain NitishRana would not have done if they had won the toss. Although things did fall into place for NitishRana and his team, one thing that left everyone confused was Shardul didn’t get a single over throughout the innings of Punjab as Rana relied on his uncapped seamersHarshitRana and Vaibhav Arora to do the job.
Shardul didn’t get much to do with the bat either, as he joined the 180-run chase in the final delivery, that too in the non-striker end, as KKR needed only two runs. Rinku then wrapped up the show by hitting a boundary in the final delivery.
Meanwhile, former India spinner and coach Anil Kumble didn’t really understand the motive behind Rana not utilising Shardul with the ball, considering it is his main job in the team.
Kumble said, “He probably would be marking his run up at the Oval. He doesn’t get an over, which is very strange. He’s a quality bowler. Yes, he gives runs, but he has the knack to pick wickets as well.”
