At Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, Royal Challengers Bangalore and MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings engaged in a run-fest. Batting first, CSK were led to 226/6 by the rapid half-centuries of Devon Conway and Shivam Dube. Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell of the RCB scored half-centuries in response, but RCB still fell short by by eight runs. Virat Kohli was one hitter whose performance in the batting line was anticipated to be strong. However, in the opening over of the chase, the former RCB captain was bowled by Akash Singh for just six runs. In response to a back of the length delivery, Kohli swung forcefully and played the ball on to the stumps.
As CSK approached the crease, RCB captain Faf du Plessis (62 off 33 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (76 off 36) gave them a fright by combining 126 runs for the third wicket, raising expectations of a historic victory. It was not to be, though.
