The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Players Status Committee has decided to rescind its order suspending India defender Anwar Ali, the Delhi High Court was informed on Friday.

The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Players Status Committee has decided to rescind its order suspending India defender Anwar Ali, the Delhi High Court was informed on Friday. AIFF’s attorney told Justice Sanjeev Narula that the committee would review the matter again on Saturday and that after hearing from the parties, a “detailed order” would be issued. The Players Status Committee’s ruling was being challenged in court by Ali, his present team, East Bengal, and his parent club, Delhi FC. Anwar was given a four-month suspension by the AIFF on September 10 after the body deemed the defender “guilty” and demanded that he and the other two clubs give Mohun Bagan an enormous payment of Rs 12.90 crore. The Players Status Committee further declared that Anwar’s parent teams, East Bengal and Delhi FC, with which the defender signed a lucrative five-year contract, would not be permitted to register players between the winter and summer transfer windows of 2024–2025.

The court questioned the AIFF during the hearing on the committee’s failure to provide the aggrieved parties with grounds, and it instructed the federation’s attorney to obtain permission to provide the parties a new hearing.

“I have been directed to announce that the AIFF Players Status Committee will be rescinding its September 10 order. Tomorrow, the committee will hear the parties again.

Anwar secured a lucrative five-year contract with East Bengal and Delhi FC, however the Players Status Committee further determined that the teams would not be allowed to register players during the winter and summer transfer windows of 2024–2025.

The committee’s failure to provide the aggrieved parties with grounds was a point of contention for the court throughout the hearing, and it directed the federation’s counsel to seek authorization in order to provide the parties a new hearing.

“I am to declare that the September 10th order of the AIFF Players Status Committee is being revoked. The committee will rehearse the parties tomorrow.
