On Day 1 of India’s first Test against England in Hyderabad, the spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja reached a historic milestone. With the first three wickets for India on the day, Ashwin and Jadeja surpassed the famed spin duo of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh in terms of most wickets for India as a pair. As England fell three wickets behind, Ashwin and Jadeja combined for 503 scalps. Kumble and Harbhajan, on the other hand, have a combined Test wicket total of 501 for India.
The third combination on the list after Kumble and Harbhajan is Bhajji and Zaheer Khan. The spin-pace pair has taken 474 wickets for India.
England’s openers, Zak Crawley (20 runs from 40 balls) and Ben Duckett (35 runs from 39 balls), got the visitors off to a good start with a 55-run partnership. Crawley hit three fours. Meanwhile, Duckett hit seven fours.
