The three female wushu competitors hail from Arunachal Pradesh, a state in northeastern India. Wushu, also known as kung fu, is a diverse martial art that has its roots in China.

The three were given permission to compete by the organising committee for the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023, but they were unable to access their accreditation cards, which serve as visas for entry into China, according to the Hindustan Times daily. According to the tabloid, the remaining nine members of the 10-person team and the coaching staff departed on Wednesday for the Hangzhou Games.

Out of the entire 61 disciplines, 655 Indian competitors will compete throughout the course of 20 days. Indians have consistently performed well at the Asian Games, which are a major competition. In 2023, India will attempt to surpass that total at the Asian Games. There will be 56 locations where the Asian Games competitions are held in Hangzhou, China.
