Australia announced a full-strength squad on Tuesday for three T20I games in New Zealand this month as they speed up preparations for the World Cup.
Australia stepped up their World Cup preparations on Tuesday by announcing a full strength squad for three Twenty20 International matches in New Zealand this month. For their forthcoming three-match home series against the West Indies, which gets underway in Hobart on Friday, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins will all make a comeback after receiving a rest. “The next six games will provide us the opportunity to start shaping what we think our World Cup squad will look like and potential roles within that,” George Bailey, our head selector, said.
“We will also fully utilise the opportunity to monitor and watch the performances of the Australian players in the IPL (Indian Premier League) immediately preceding the World Cup.”
Australia’s final format games before the World Cup, which the United States and the West Indies will co-host in June, are in Wellington and Auckland from February 21–25.
