Australia on Monday left out their Test stars for the home T20 series against Pakistan, with a new captain set to be named.

Australia announced a new captain on Monday, leaving out their Test players for the domestic T20 series against Pakistan. The first of Australia’s five home Test matches against India will begin just four days after the conclusion of the three-match T20 series next month. The selectors rested Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and other Test players, as well as fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. Cameron Green, an all-rounder, will be sidelined for the full Australian summer due to an injury.

In order to lead against Pakistan, Marsh typically serves as the T20 captain, with Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell, and Matt Short being considered.

For the November 14 games in Brisbane, Sydney, and Hobart, fast bowlers Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, and Spencer Johnson all make their injury-recovery debuts.

November 22 marks the start of the first Test match versus India in Perth.

“This group of players have all represented Australia in T20 cricket, so we look forward to them continuing to enhance their international experience throughout this series,” George Bailey, the chief selector, said.”We are excited by the mix of experience combined with those closer to the start of their international journeys.”

The T20s follow a three-match one-day international series against Pakistan, which begins on November 4.

Cummins, Hazlewood, and Starc were named to the one-day squad two weeks ago, but Marsh and Head will go on paternity leave.

Australia T20 squad: Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa
