On November 19, Labuschagne helped Australia defeat India by six wickets with an unbroken fifty-wicket total in the 2023 World Cup Final.

Marnus Labuschange, an Australian batsman, has retired a unique piece of cricket memorabilia. The 30-year-old has given up using the cricket bat he used to defeat India in Australia’s 2023 World Cup victory. On social media, Labuschagne brought back some painful memories for Indian fans when he declared that he would be retiring the bat, which is currently broken. Against India in the World Cup final, Labuschagne had an undefeated fifty, which helped Australia win their sixth World Cup.

Travis Head led the run chase while Labuschagne, who was coming in to bat with Australia struggling at 47/3 and chasing a goal of 241, served as the ideal anchor. Labuschagne was not out till the very end, scoring 58 off 110 balls, while Head scored 137 in just 120 balls. Together with Head, he scored 192 runs to virtually assure the Australians of victory.

On social media, Labuschagne posted a picture of his bat from that match. His Kookaburra bat is obviously in rough shape; a large portion of the willow in the middle and bottom of the bat has broken off.
Indian supporters respond
Different Indian fans had different reactions to Labuschagne’s tweet.
A fan expressed regret that Labuschagne had held off on taking a hard hit until the pivotal final.
“We hate that bat and that innings Marnus, we don’t mind you playing well against Eng but why India, why against India” responded a fan.
Another admirer praised the idea that even for seasoned cricket players, a bat could have such significance.”We used to believe that such bats were exclusively owned by individuals similar to us who played in clubs, schools, etc. Something similar is attachment; it is difficult to leave behind a favorite bat. Another person said, “He is such a big player.”
