On March 24, the Delhi Capitals will play the Lucknow Super Giants in Vishakhapatnam to start their campaign.
Prior to the 2024 mega auction, Axar, who has been with the Delhi Capitals since 2019, was their top retention for Rs 16.50 crore. He was India’s T20I vice-captain in January 2025 despite having no experience as a skipper. In 23 games, he has captained Gujarat, winning the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophies.
In a match against RCB last season, Axar captained DC once. He excelled with the bat and ball and played a significant part in India’s Champions Trophy victory as he enters the IPL 2025.
The team’s campaign will begin on March 24 at Visakhapatnam against the Lucknow Super Giants.
The Delhi Capitals earned 14 points from 14 games last season, which put them in sixth place in the standings. In an attempt to bolster its roster, the team made some bold purchases at the auction, such as Australian pacer Mitchell Starc for Rs 11.75 crore and KL Rahul for Rs 14 crore.
