On Saturday (August 31), Indian batters Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya set a new world record for the highest partnership in T20 cricket when they added 286 runs for the second wicket during a Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20 match between South Delhi Superstarz and North Delhi Strikers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Badoni, the Superstarz skipper, scored 165 runs off 55 balls, while Arya scored 120 runs from 50 deliveries.

The previous record for the highest partnership for any wicket in T20 cricket was held by Japan’s batting duo of Lachlan Yamamoto-Lake (134) and Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming (109).

They scored 258 runs for the first wicket in the T20I against China in Mong Kok on February 15, 2024.South Delhi’s skipper, Badoni, who plays for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, hit as much as 19 sixes during his time at the crease, setting a record for the most sixes hit by an Indian batsman in a Twenty20 innings. His score of 165 is also the highest by an Indian in the shortest format of the game. He surpassed Shreyas Iyer’s score of 147 runs for Mumbai against Sikkim in Indore on February 21, 2019.However, in an over bowled by Manan Bhardwaj, Priyansh hit six sixes to match the record set by former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. The first Indian batsman to hit six sixes in a single over was Yuvraj. He accomplished the milestone on September 19, 2007, during the India vs. England T20 World Cup 2007 match at Kingsmead in Durban.

Siddhartha Solanki took three wickets for 52 runs in four overs for the North Delhi Strikers, while Pranshu Vijayran sent two South Delhi hitters back to the pavilion. Suyash Sharma, a spinner for the Kolkata Knight Riders, had a forgettable game on Saturday as he gave up 66 runs in his allotted four overs and failed to claim any wickets. Manan, on the other side, gave up 60 runs in just two overs.
