Babar Azam reached a number of landmarks during his 151-ball innings.

In the opening match of the Asia Cup against Nepal in Multan on Wednesday, Pakistan’s skipper Babar hit an incredible 151 off 131 balls to help his team secure a decisive victory. Babar accomplished numerous milestones throughout his knock. He has now surpassed Virat Kohli in the elite list of Asia Cup captains with the highest individual score. In a 2014 Asia Cup match against Bangladesh, Kohli scored 136 points. Babar also had the second-best batter score in the competition.

With 183 runs scored during the competition, Kohli still retains the record for the highest knock. Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh scored 144 earlier than Babar, who now has a higher score.
Now that Saeed Anwar and Babar have both scored one century in a one-day international, Babar is only one century away from tying the record. With 20 hundreds in his ODI career, former Pakistani batsman Saeed is one century ahead of Babar, who has 19 hundreds to his credit.

The captain of Pakistan has also joined the exclusive group of Pakistan’s top 100 scorers across all competitions. Along with Saeed Anwar, Javed Miandad, and Azhar Ali, he moved up to fourth place in terms of the number of centuries scored. So far, across all forms, he has 31 centuries. With 41 hundreds, Younis Khan is the top batter for Pakistan.

In the first game of the Asia Cup on Wednesday in Multan, Pakistan hammered Nepal by 238 runs.

Pakistan amassed 342-6 in 50 overs thanks to Babar’s 19th ODI century and Ahmed’s first ODI century.

Shadab Khan, a leg-spinner, took 4-27 as the home team then bowled Nepal out for just 104 in 23.4 overs.
