Shakib Al Hasan is in the squad, but he will not be leading because the board has opted to hand up the all-format captaincy to Shanto. Aside from the 15-member roster, two players will accompany the team as reserves. Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign on June 7 against Sri Lanka.
The 15-person Bangladeshi team has been announced for the forthcoming T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies. With Shakib Al Hasan also in the squad, Najmul Hossain Shanto is expected to lead the team for the first time when he assumes the skipper role in the major event. In the five-match T20I series that Bangladesh recently won 4-1 at home, their seasoned player Shakib made his format comeback after nearly a year away from the game in the previous two games.
Tanzim Hasan, a young pacer who has only played two games against Zimbabwe in a recent series, has been included in the selected team. With veteran Mahmudullah joining the lineup despite not being selected for the ODI World Cup squad last year, there are no other shocks in the squad.
Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Nepal, and the Netherlands are all placed in Group D, for those who are unaware. On June 7 in Dallas, they will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka, their adversary. The clubs may also make as many roster adjustments as they like up until May 25th, per the regulations.
