Players such as Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha, Deepak Chahar, and others were omitted from the BCCI’s roster of Central Contract recipients.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a lengthy list of players who have been granted the ‘Central Contract’ for the 2022-23 season. Ravindra Jadeja, an all-rounder, was one of the biggest winners, receiving an A+ contract for his exploits across formats. There was also a significant downgrade, with KL Rahul moving from A to B. However, there were a handful of others who were completely overlooked.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha, Deepak Chahar, and Hanuma Vihari have all been released from their contracts. Saha, Ishant, and Rahane, among others, are no longer in the picture. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has played a few limited-overs matches recently, but other players appear to have surpassed him in the pecking order.
Deepak Chahar is still regarded as a top talent, but injuries have stopped him from becoming a key component of India’s pace attack. Hanuma Vihari, a key member of India’s Test team, appears to be falling further down the pecking order.
Deepak Hooda, KS Bharat, and Arshdeep Singh are among the names on the current list who have won a well-deserved spot in the Grade C category. Shikhar Dhawan, on the other hand, is a surprising moniker.
The Indian team’s opening batter was only playing one-day internationals and appears to have surrendered his spot to Shubman Gill. However, the fact that he is still in the Grade C group indicates that the BCCI still considers him a player.
