Following the conclusion of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the BCCI held good conversations with Rahul Dravid and unanimously agreed to extend his contract.
On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extended the contracts of India’s senior men’s team head coach Rahul Dravid and the support staff.
Following the conclusion of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the BCCI participated in fruitful discussions with Rahul Dravid and unanimously agreed to extend his contract.
The Board also praised VVS Laxman for his outstanding performance as Head of NCA and stand-in Head Coach.
“The last two years with Team India have been fantastic. We have experienced the highs and lows together, and the group’s support and companionship have been incredible throughout this journey. “I am truly proud of the culture we have established in the locker room,” Dravid remarked.
“Rahul Dravid’s vision, professionalism, and unwavering efforts have been important pillars in Team India’s success,” remarked Roger Binny, president of the BCCI. As the head coach of the Indian cricket team, you are constantly scrutinized, and I commend him for not only accepting but also prospering in the challenges.
Dravid has had a decent record in the last two years, and many people in the BCCI believe that maintaining him will allow the senior squad to have continuity.
It would be intriguing to watch the nature of Dravid’s tenure extension, whether it will be for a year with the next T20 World Cup in mind or until 2025, which will cover the entire existing WTC cycle as well as the Champions Trophy, which Pakistan is currently set to host.
