BCCI Official Drops Bombshell “No Room, Won’t Go To…” Regarding Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has had a terrible run in the present Duleep Trophy, scoring only 104 runs in four innings.

Shreyas Iyer, a star Indian hitter, is temporarily out of the Test cricket picture. Iyer, who was not chosen by the selectors for the first Test against Bangladesh, has had a disastrous run in the ongoing Duleep Trophy, scoring only 104 runs in four innings. The batter has fallen down the pecking order, with young players like Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel impressing in whites against England earlier this year. With Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul also part of the selection for the series opener, Iyer’s record in the Duleep Trophy has further undermined his ambitions of making a Test comeback any time soon.

A representative of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now asserted that Iyer has no place in the current Test team, citing worries regarding his incapacity to take advantage of batting pitches in the Duleep Trophy.

“Shreyas is not currently eligible to play for the Test team. Who will he take the place of? Furthermore, his choice of shots in Duleep has been questionable, particularly yesterday (Sunday). He was in a good position when he unintentionally played the shot (off left-arm spinner Shams Mulani). Making the most of the opportunity presented by batting on a flat deck once you are set is imperative, the BCCI source informed Telegraph.

Iyer is expected to keep up his hard work in the Domestic circuit, according to a suggestion made by another board representative. It is improbable that the player will be chosen for the next five-match Test series against Australia.
For the Irani Cup, which starts in Lucknow on October 1, Shreyas might be a member of the Mumbai team. Another board official stated, “Even if he is selected for the Bangladesh T20Is (starting on October 6), he may still play Irani and be available from the second T20I onwards.”In the event that he fails to score in Irani too, he still has the Ranji Trophy to score runs. He wasn’t quite that long ago when he was dominating the ODI World Cup. It is necessary to take into account that he was injured as well. Also, you never know when he might score a hundred in Duleep, as there is still one round remaining. He must get his form back. “It is unlikely that he will travel to Australia due to his short ball issues, but it is not appropriate to overlook his runs at home,” he continued.
