According to IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.8, which states that “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision” is a Level 1 infraction, Sam Curran was fined half of his match money.
The IPL revealed on Monday that Punjab Kings captain and Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain, Faf Du Plessis, had each been fined Rs 12 lakh and 50% of their respective match fees, respectively, for their respective transgressions. However, Curran was fined half of his match fees for a Level 1 breach of “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision” under IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.8 on Sunday during PBKS’ three-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur.
According to Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, Curran committed a Level 1 offense. He acknowledged the offense and consented to the Match Referee’s punishment. The decision made by the Match Referee for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct is final and enforceable, according to an IPL press release.Punjab now sits in ninth place in the points table after suffering their fourth straight defeat to GT.
