BCCI has fined and suspended Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant for violating the Code of Conduct.
IPL’s regulatory board has suspended Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant for one match, according to a notification issued by the BCCI on Saturday afternoon. Pant, a key cog in DC’s wheel if they are to keep their IPL playoff hopes alive, will miss the team’s next game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. DC is presently ranked fifth in the IPL table, having scored 12 points from as many games.
“Rishabh Pant was fined INR 30 Lac and suspended for one match for his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences.” The remaining members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were fined INR 12 Lac or 50% of their match fees, whichever was less.The Delhi Capitals filed an appeal under Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct, appealing the Match Referee’s decision. Following this, the petition was forwarded to the BCCI Ombudsman for evaluation. The Ombudsman conducted a virtual hearing and confirmed that the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.”
Pant was previously fined Rs 24 lakh on April 4 for a second over-rate offense in Match 16 of the 17th season of IPL against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Vizag. Prior to it, DC had a slow over rate in a match against the Chennai Super Kings at the same venue, for which Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh.
