In the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 match, Rajasthan Royals will play Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Ravichandran Ashwin of Chennai asked the local supporters to support the Rajasthan Royals ahead of their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. Ashwin expressed his excitement about playing at home again when his club plays in Qualifier 2. After the Royals defeated the RCB in Ahmedabad, Ashwin responded when asked about returning to Chennai to play the tournament’s final leg.
He declared, “I’m heading home! Everyone considers their home a particular place, and Chennai is one place where I’ve always performed really well. When I played in Chennai the last few times, I also had a few of unusual hitting stints. Playing in front of that audience is something I’m looking forward to, and I’m confident we’ll have support from Halla Bol and Nalla Bol when we play SRH.”
“I think this turnaround was required here (at the Royals),” Ashwin stated in response to the team’s performance against RCB on Wednesday night in Ahmedabad.
To say we were a little lacking in confidence would be an understatement. Although I would have preferred a flawless chase, I believe we should acknowledge that this one wasn’t great. Nevertheless, by leaving that small gap, you’ll have a chance to overtake it in the following game. Next time, I’m expecting a clinical and excellent game, and since SRH has been the team to beat, we’ll need to play at our best.”
Given his connection to the city, was Ashwin considering making Chennai a “home game” for the Royals? He responded, “I know the SRH franchise owners are from Chennai so I think you’ll get a lot of support for them.” However, I’m excited for the supporters of the Rajasthan Royals to get up and wear pink jerseys.”
“I genuinely believe that when SRH started the tournament, they were one of the favorites, and they’ve played like champions, so it’s going to be a very interesting game,” Ashwin continued, looking ahead to tonight’s match. Can we get A game out? Can we outmaneuver them tactically? We must respond to those inquiries within the following several hours.”
