Manoj Tiwary thinks that before the team’s next IPL 2024 match, the Mumbai Indians can return captaincy to Rohit Sharma.

Prior to the team’s upcoming IPL 2024 match, former Indian cricket great Manoj Tiwary thinks the Mumbai Indians can return captaincy to Rohit Sharma. MI has dropped three straight games and is at bottom of the points table under new captain Hardik Pandya’s direction. Prior to the competition, a lot of controversy surrounded the choice of Hardik to take Rohit’s place as the MI captain. The next game for MI is against the Delhi Capitals on April 7, and Tiwary stated that a captaincy change could occur during the interval.

“It could be an indication that he is under pressure. If someone does not bowl after opening the bowling for the previous three matches, especially on a pitch where the ball was swinging. There was swing in the first innings, and Mumbai Indians bowlers, notably (Jasprit) Bumrah, created plenty of swing. Hardik’s ball would have swung as well, but the reception he received in Mumbai put him under strain.

“I hope to witness a major development. I sense that MI might return Rohit to the captaincy during this intermission. As much as I respect franchises and their owners, this is a big call since they make these judgments without hesitation. It all began when you handed Hardik the captaincy instead of Rohit. It’s a big decision to remove a five-time champion captain.”

“The squad is without a point, and the captain has been inconsistent as well. They haven’t had much luck, and the captaincy hasn’t been great. When it comes to captaincy, errors have happened.” During the conversation about press stories, Tiwary stated

Virender Sehwag, a legendary batsman from India, participated on the discussion panel and shared a story about how MI once lost five games under Rohit’s leadership before taking home the title in the same season. He believes that it would be too soon to forecast a decision such as dismissing Hardik from his captaincy.

“I felt that his statement regarding Pandya was a little too quick. The squad has dropped its last five games, even with Rohit leading the way. They went on to win the championship that year. Thus, we must exercise some patience. The former hitter for the Indian cricket team responded, “I think it’s too early to say that and we need to wait for two more matches before we can make such a prediction.”
