Ben Stokes has been selected captain of the 17-man Pakistan Test team despite the injury; the opening match of the three-match series is scheduled to start on October 7.

Ben Stokes, England’s Test captain, will have a hamstring diagnostic next week before the first Test in Pakistan, according to reports. Stokes was injured while playing in the Hundred for the Northern Superchargers against the Manchester Originals last month. Stokes went for a quick single early in the Superchargers chase; he collapsed after finishing the run, holding his left leg. He was helped off the field and returned to the team’s dugout on crutches. He later ruled out the Sri Lankan Tests.According to a BBC story, the scan is scheduled as part of tracking the all-rounder’s recovery rather than a response to any setback with the injury.

Ollie Pope would take over as captain in the event that Stokes is declared ineligible for the opening Test. Pope filled in as the English team’s captain while Stokes was away for the Sri Lanka series.

The three-match series in Pakistan has not yet been finalized with respect to its locations. The games were scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Karachi; however, those venues are probably going to be unavailable due to construction in Karachi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has not yet released the information about the anticipated location.
