The Royal Challengers Bengaluru managed to hold onto their playoff aspirations by defeating the Delhi Capitals by 47 runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After being placed to bat first, RCB scored 187 in the allotted 20 overs with 9 wickets lost. Will Jackson’s 41 off 29 and Rajat Patidar’s half century both contributed to RCB’s respectable total. Axal Patel, the captain of Delhi, scored a valiant 57 runs off of 39 balls. But RCB prevailed because of the lack of assistance from the opposing end and the frequent wicket falls.
RCB moved up to fifth position with 12 points and a positive run rate of 0.387 after the victory, while Delhi Capitals dropped to sixth place with a negative run rate of 0.482.
In another game played yesterday evening at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the Chennai Super Kings defeated the Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in a low-scoring thriller to increase their hopes of qualifying for the IPL playoffs. Chennai scored 145 with 10 balls remaining to win after needing to chase 142 runs. At 42, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was still undefeated. After obstructing the field, Ravindra Jadeja was declared out for the third time in IPL history. Ravichandran Ashwin of Rajasthan claimed two wickets, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Nandre Burger each claimed one.
Earlier, Rajasthan chose to bat first and scored 141 runs in the 20 overs allowed while losing five wickets. Riyan Parag of Rajasthan was still undefeated at 47. Simarjeet Singh claimed three wickets for Chennai, while Tushar Deshpande claimed two.
Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders will play today at 7:30 p.m. in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
