The All India Football Federation (AIFF) elections are set to take place on September 2, and Indian football great Bhaichung Bhutia spearheaded a new nomination for the position of president on Thursday.
The Rajasthan FA and the Andhra Football Association (AFA) both supported the 45-year-old former India captain’s nomination.
According to Bhaichung, “I have filed my nomination for the position of AIFF President and I feel that I am the best person for the job.”

Bhaichung had previously spearheaded his nomination for the president’s position and received support from Deepak Mandaland, a former teammate, and Madhu Kumari, a prominent female football player.
