Burnley struck twice in stoppage time, including a 100th-minute winner from Halil Dervisoglu, to beat 10-man Rotherham 3-2 on Wednesday and open up a five-point lead at the top of the Championship.
Vincent Kompany’s men were headed for a first defeat in 17 games as goals from Cohen Bramall and Chiedozie Ogbene either side of Jay Rodriguez’s equaliser put the visitors in front.
But Rotherham succumbed after Bramall was dismissed for two yellow cards in the 75th minute.
Manuel Benson curled home the equaliser in the 91st minute before playing a part in Dervisoglu’s winner 10 minutes into added time.
Burnley are five clear at the top after QPR missed the chance to move into second with a 0-0 draw at Norwich.
The Canaries were inches away from a winner with the last kick of the game as captain Grant Hanley hit the woodwork.
Teemu Pukki also hit a post for Norwich, while Chris Wilcock followed suit for Rangers, with a share of the spoils keeping the fourth-placed visitors two points clear of their opponents.
