Pat Cummins verified Cameron Green’s return to the reorganized team following David Warner’s Test retirement.

In preparation for the opening Test match of the two-game series in Adelaide, Australia and the West Indies announced their playing eleven on Tuesday. Cameron Green’s return to the reconfigured team following David Warner’s retirement from the longest format has been confirmed by Australian captain Pat Cummins, according to cricket.com.au. In Test cricket, Steve Smith will represent Australia as an opener. West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite said that middle-order duo Kavem Hodge and Justin Greaves, as well as bowler Shamar Joseph, will all be making their Test debuts. Meanwhile, the Caribbean team has announced that they will be fielding three debutants.

In Australia’s next two-match Test series against the West Indies, which starts on January 17 in Adelaide, Steve Smith has overtaken David Warner at the top of the order, leaving the number four place for Green.

No pressure is felt by me. Needless to say, it’s not easy to replace someone like Steve. I will, however, simply play the game my way. Of course, though, I’m appreciative that he thought of me and kept it in mind. I have a strong feeling that he is quite eager to open. Green stated, citing ESPNcricinfo, “I think it’s a win-win situation.”

Australia XI: Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey (Wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (C), Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.

West Indies XI: Kraigg Brathwaite (C), Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Kirk McKenzie, Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, Justin Greaves, Joshua Da Silva (Wk), Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Kemar Roach.
