Carlos Alcaraz declared on Monday that he would chose the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris above the French Open championship. Ahead of the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, where he is the defending champion, the 20-year-old, who won the US Open in 2022 and Wimbledon in 2023, was questioned about his season objectives. “If I had to choose one target this year I’d choose the Olympic gold over Roland-Garros,” the Spaniard stated.
The Olympic tennis matches will take place at Roland Garros from July 27 to August 4 concurrently with the French Open, which runs from May 20 to June 9.
I had a strong performance in Australia and I’m in good form. In addition, the clay-court tennis I’ve played for training has been excellent,” Alcaraz stated.
