The bowlers from CSK, led by seamer Simarjeet Singh, put on a cohesive display to limit Rajasthan Royals to a respectable 141 for five.

Chennai Super Kings improved their prospects of qualifying for the IPL playoffs here on Sunday by defeating Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in a low-scoring thriller. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain, dropped the anchor to make a well-compiled unbeaten 42 (41 balls, 1x4s, 2x6s) as CSK made 145 for five in 18.2 overs while chasing a modest 142 on a challenging pitch. After Ravindra Jadeja became the third batsman in IPL history to be declared out for obstructing the field, rookie Sameer Rizvi quickly put an end to the match with an eight-ball 15 not out and three fours.

Rajasthan Royals were only able to muster a respectable 141 for five points earlier in the first innings thanks to the cohesive bowling display of the Chennai Super Kings, led by seamer Simarjeet Singh.

While the others cast focused spells, Tushar Deshpande took 2/30.

Riyan Parag led the RR team in scoring with 47 off 35 balls, three sixes, and one four.

The Rajasthan Royals, with Yashasvi Jaiswal at number 24, Riyan Parag at 47 not out, Tushar Deshpande at 2/3, and Simarjeet Singh at 3/16, defeated the Chennai Super Kings, with Ravindra Rathore at number 27, Ruturaj Gaikwad at number 42 not out, Ravichandran Ashwin at number 2, Nandre Burger at number 1, Yuzvendra Chahal at number 2, by 5 wickets in 18.2 overs.
