Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, slammed the team’s management, saying the Babar Azam-led squad needs “major surgery” after losing by six runs to archrival India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.Pakistani batsmen were restricted to 113 for 7 in New York on Sunday after consuming 59 dot balls in pursuit of an uninspiring 120-run goal.”I thought the team needed minor surgery to start winning matches, but it now appears that we need major surgery,” Naqvi told Pakistani reporters in New York.
Naqvi also believed that it was time to start looking at players who had been sitting outside the team for some time.
“It is quite upsetting that we have lost to the United States and now to India. We need to start looking at players other than those currently on the club,” he stated.
Naqvi, who took over as chairman in January and later became the government’s interior minister, stated unequivocally that the PCB had done everything it could to help the players.
“Everyone wonders why the team is underperforming. The World Cup has not yet ended.
