Cricket fans and music lovers alike found Saturday’s performance by British band Coldplay in Mumbai to be an amazing evening.

The Saturday performance by British band Coldplay in Mumbai proved to be a memorable evening for cricket enthusiasts as well as music lovers. At the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Coldplay’s vocalist Chris Martin shocked everyone by mentioning the name of India’s top bowler Jasprit Bumrah while performing one of his final songs. He continued, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage.” Martin thanked the supporters before saying, “He (Bumrah) says he needs to bowl at me now.” There was little doubt that cricket fans were thrilled to hear Martin take Bumrah’s name. Many even thought that Bumrah would take the stage. Despite his absence, Martin’s shout-out to Bumrah undoubtedly caused the concertgoers to cheer loudly.

After taking 32 wickets in the five-match series against Australia, Bumrah was recently named the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25 Player of the Series. In both the first and last Test matches, he captained the Indian side.

Returning to Coldplay’s India tour, the band will also play in Mumbai on January 19 to 21.

They will play two straight performances in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26 after Mumbai.

Regarding the fitness of India’s pace leader Jasprit Bumrah, Men’s Selection Committee Chairman Ajit Agarkar revealed on Saturday that the 31-year-old is probably not going to be able to play in the opening two matches of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

The 15-man squad for the forthcoming Champions Trophy 2025 and ODI series against England was revealed at a press conference on Saturday by captain Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar. The speedster didn’t bowl a ball in the final innings of the fifth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia in Sydney because he was going for scans. The Australian doctors told him not to play the rest of the Sydney Test.

In accordance with the medical experts’ recommendations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) determined that the Indian captain should take a minimum of five weeks off (the Sydney Test concluded on January 5) before undergoing another scan.
