In an effort to finalize their rosters before the 2025 season, which kicks off on January 9 of the following year, the six franchise teams convened in Cape Town for the third SA20 player auction on Tuesday.
188 players from all around the world, including those from South Africa, registered for the auction, but there were only 13 spots available. The players were split up into the following groups and given to the teams: fast bowlers, spin bowlers, all-rounders, wicketkeepers, and batters.
Renowned auctioneer Richard Madley led the sale. For ten years, he was the pioneer of the storied Indian Premier League (IPL) player auctions.
Reeza Hendricks, the opening pick for South Africa, brought in the highest amount at the auction, selling for an astounding R4.3 million to MI Cape Town. West Indies hitter Evin Lewis and England bowler Richard Gleeson were two more high earners.
