The knee injury that Bairstow, 33, suffered in September of last year is now healing. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) granted all-rounder Liam Livingstone permission to participate in the IPL after he recovered from knee and foot injuries. During the IPL auction, Punjab Kings had paid Rs 11.50 crores and Rs 6.75 crores, respectively, to acquire Livingstone and Bairstow.
