In the Women’s Premier League (WPL), England seamer Kate Cross has chosen not to play for the reigning champion Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The 33-year-old Cross was included in England’s team for their Women’s Ashes loss to Australia in January, but he was unable to participate due to a back ailment.
Kim Garth, 28, an Australian seamer who claimed nine Ashes wickets, has taken her spot.
New Zealand’s Sophie Devine has also been replaced at RCB by Australia’s Heather Graham, a 28-year-old all-rounder. Devine, 35, is taking a hiatus from cricket in order to save her mental health.
Alyssa Healy, 34, the captain of Australia, will also not be participating in the event due to a foot ailment. At UP Warriorz, she will be replaced by Chinelle Henry, 29 of the West Indies.
Henry and Graham have not yet appeared in the Indian Premier League’s women’s division, but Garth played for the Gujarat Giants during the inaugural season.
On February 14, the WPL’s third edition gets underway.
