George Linde’s all-round brilliance and David Miller’s explosive batting enabled an inexperienced South African team defeat Pakistan in the series’ first T20I on Tuesday, December 10. Linde took four wickets and scored 48 runs to help his side win in Durban.David Miller’s powerful innings and George Linde’s career-best all-round performance led South Africa to an 11-run victory over Pakistan in the first T20I century on Friday at Kingsmead. Miller blasted 82 off 40 balls, including four fours and eight sixes, while Linde hit a quick 48 for a South African total of 183 for nine. Linde, a left-arm spinner, followed with four for twenty-one. Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan scored 74 runs, and his team was still in contention until he was caught off the second ball of the final over.”It was almost the perfect comeback,” Linde said after being passed over by consecutive South African selectors for more than three years.
Linde claimed he felt at ease with both bat and ball, but he felt he “had to deliver a good performance” after missing the team bus to the ground. He need a police escort to catch up.
Linde grabbed two wickets in his final over, briefly completing a hat-trick when Haris Rauf was given out leg before wicket before successfully appealing the judgment.Rizwan stated that the individual performances of Miller and Linde were the difference between the teams.
Shaheen Shah Afridi spearheaded Pakistan’s disciplined bowling assault, getting three for 22 and reaching 100 wickets in T20 internationals.
Despite Miller hitting three consecutive sixes, leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed got three for 37.
Miller was in superb form, but the rest of South Africa’s top order struggled, with only captain Heinrich Klaasen (12) reaching double digits.Linde blasted four sixes in a 24-ball innings, including three in the final over by Sufiyan Muqeem, to help South Africa reach a decent score, while Miller was sixth out with the total of 135 in the 14th over.
