The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) has selected Deepa Malik, the first female Paralympian medallist from India, as the sub-regional delegate for South Asia.Representing South Asian countries, Malik’s job will be to push for the growth and advancement of parasports in the area. “It’s time for me to represent India more broadly and help parasports and ‘inclusion through sports’ in general flourish as a community,” she continued.

She is going to start working right away. According to a media release, the nomination of the former head of the Paralympic Committee of India increases the number of female members on the APC Executive Board to five, marking the highest level of female representation on the board in the organization’s history.
