Sunil Gavaskar stated that he was going to ask Shreyas Iyer a question at the post-match analysis, but he was unable to.

In a match for the Cricket World Cup 2023, India defeated South Africa on Sunday by a score of 243 runs. The Rohit Sharma-led team crushed the Proteas in the match, demonstrating yet another example of their cohesiveness. At Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India amassed a massive 326 for 5, and then bowled out the side in second position in the points chart at a pitiful 83 runs. Following the match, broadcaster Mayanti Langer was joined by veteran Indian cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri, as well as Shreyas Iyer, who scored 77 runs in the team’s victory.

Gavaskar had a question for Iyer, but he did not ask it; Shastri and Langer both asked questions of Iyer. He later disclosed the cause of that.

Yes, I had a question for him, but I was sidetracked by the sight of an Indian flag bearing a business name. You know, that’s really not permitted at all. Nothing can deface the Indian flag,” Gavaskar declared on television.

“The flag-bearers have already left. The next time the police witness something similar, I think they should not only seize the flag but also issue a warning to the individuals involved not to place any kind of advertisement, be it for a business or a product, on the Indian flag. That is by no means all. I apologise; I became a little sidetracked.

Gavaskar continued, “I was just staring at those individuals and trying to signal them. I know Ravi (Shastri) wanted me to ask Shreyas a question.
