The incident occurred during the match against the Gujarat Titans, and the Delhi Capitals player was fined.

Rasikh Salam Dar of the Delhi Capitals was penalized for violating the IPL’s Code of Conduct for celebrating aggressively after scooping up R Sai Kishore’s wicket during Wednesday’s play against Gujarat Titans. The DC defeated the Gujarat Titans by 4 runs in their IPL 2024 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Dar bowled well (3/44 in 4 overs, including vital wickets of Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, and Sai Kishore).

Dar bowled well (3/44 in 4 overs, including vital wickets for Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, and Sai Kishore). “Dar committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct.” He confessed to the offense and accepted the Match Referee’s punishment. The Match Referee’s decision on Level 1 Code of Conduct violations is final and binding,” according to an IPL statement.

According to Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct, any phrase, action, or gesture used by a player and directed towards a batter following his/her dismissal that has the potential to elicit an aggressive reaction from the dismissed batter is deemed a violation of the Code of Conduct.

Dar acknowledged to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s punishment. The Match Referee’s decision on Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct is final and binding.

Rasikh was handed the critical 19th over by the skipper, with the visitors needing 37 runs. The right-arm pacer conceded 18 runs but took the crucial wicket of Sai Kishore with the penultimate delivery of the over.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant explained why he gave Rasikh Dar the penultimate over of the run chase: he had bowled well and trusted him to deliver.

“(Anrich) Nortje was having a difficult time. T20 is a weird game; after 14-15 overs, the ball was coming on well. So we wanted to trust Rasikh, as we always do with someone who bowls well in a game. As a captain, I believe it is all about instinct, and it will pay off at times. “I’m glad it worked today,” Pant explained his decision.

The Delhi Capitals’ triumph advanced them to sixth place in the IPL standings, marking their fourth victory of the season. Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, dropped to seventh spot after suffering their sixth defeat in IPL 2024.
