Delhi Capitals are looking for a new coach to replace Ricky Ponting.
Delhi Capitals have been searching for an Indian coach to take over as head coach since coach Rick Ponting’s departure was officially announced before to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. In addition to having Sourav Ganguly as a backup player, Delhi is rumored to be looking to replace Ponting before the new season begins by bringing in one of India’s best middle-order batsmen, Yuvraj Singh. A transfer to the Gujarat Titans was also previously connected to Yuvraj.
Yuvraj, a renowned figure in Indian cricket, has little top-tier coaching experience. However, the Delhi franchise is eager to add him to the support staff roster, hoping to see him replicate Ashish Nehra’s performance at Gujarat Titans. Nehra, too, was connected with a move away from GT, causing the company to consider Yuvraj as his replacement. However, according to Sportstar, Nehra will likely stay at GT, with Yuvraj now at the top of DC’s wish list, despite the fact that the team has yet to win an IPL trophy.
