The Delhi Capitals destroy the Punjab Kings’ playoff chances.
Liam Livingstone’s brave attempt was in vain as Delhi Capitals defeated Punjab Kings by 15 runs in the IPL 2023 match on Wednesday in Dharamsala. Livingstone hit 94 from 48 balls as PBKS managed 198/8 on the board while chasing a massive 214. Apart from Livingstone, Atharva Taide struck a half-century before retiring at 55(42). Earlier, Rilee Rossouw delivered a dominant performance and Prithvi Shaw returned with a bang as Delhi built up a massive 213/2 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
Rossouw finished undefeated on 82 off 37 balls, including six boundaries and six maximums. Meanwhile, on his comeback to the XI, Shaw lived up to expectations, scoring 54(38). With skipper David Warner, he gave his team a solid start. Together, they scored 94 runs in 10.2 overs before Dhawan took a sensational catch to dismiss Warner for 46(31). Phil Salt also contributed a 14-ball 26. The result is a big setback for PBKS’ play-off hopes, but they are still in the running.
