In match nine of the WPL 2025 season at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, UP Warriorz dazzled defending champions RCB in a historic Super Over, driven by the all-around genius of Sophie Ecclestone. Additionally, Ellyse Perry’s glittering 90* was rendered useless by Ecclestone’s exciting show. Early in the game, UP Warriorz skipper Deepti Sharma (1-42) made a major impact by dismissing her RCB opponent Smriti Mandhana for just six runs. With a quick 94-run partnership for the second wicket with number three batsman Ellyse Perry, Mandhana’s opening partner Danni Wyatt-Hodge brought the RCB innings back to life.
Wyatt helped her team surpass the 100-run milestone in fewer than 13 overs by scoring 57 runs from 41 balls, including three sixes and four graceful boundaries. At backward point, Tahlia McGrath (1-30) miscued one towards Shweta Sehrawat, ultimately dismissing the well-set opening.
