Shubha Satheesh, who top-scored for India in the first innings with 69 off 76 balls, became the country’s 12th woman to register a fifty on debut in women’s Tests.
Shubha Satheesh of India Women was ruled out of the remainder of the upcoming one-off Test against England on Saturday owing to a broken finger, making her a dubious starter for the Test match against Australia, which begins here next week. From December 21 to 24, India will play Australia in a one-off Test at Wankhede Stadium. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced before the commencement of play on the third day of the four-day Test that Shubha, who made her debut for India across formats, will not participate in the ongoing battle.
“Shubha Satheesh did not bat in the second innings due to broken finger and will take no further part in the ongoing India-England Test,” the BCCI said in a statement.
The BCCI did not say when or how the athlete was injured, however she had warmed up ahead of the second day of play on Friday.
However, the 24-year-old did not play that day and was observed sitting in the dugout with her fingers taped.
