In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) experienced yet another blow when Litton Das, their opening batter, returned to Bangladesh owing to a medical issue in his family. He is also unlikely to play in the remaining IPL matches since the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) only gave him a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to travel to India till May 4.
In his one game for KKR during the 16th IPL season, Litton scored four runs off of the same number of balls. Notably, He was unable to participate in the tournament’s first games owing to obligations abroad.
The Kolkata-based franchise released a statement to communicate the news of Litton’s departure to his home town.
“Litton Das has had to return to Bangladesh earlier today (Friday 28 April) due to an urgent family medical emergency. Our wishes go out to him and his family to make it through this difficult time.” read KKR’s statement.
It’s also important to note that Shakib Al Hasan, a different Bangladeshi player, had already left KKR after choosing to skip the whole IPL season. However, Kolkata decided to replace Shakib with Englishman Jason Roy.
