Four teams competed in the event last season, chosen on the advice of a working committee that included Abey Kuruvilla, general manager of operations, National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and then-head coach Rahul Dravid. Starting with the upcoming season, the experiment has been discontinued, and it is anticipated that the zonal selectors will choose the teams.
In the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, it was also agreed to demote the bottom-placed teams from each of the six groups to the Plate Group.
Another noteworthy change is the Board’s decision to standardize the scorers’ compensation. In the future, each scorer will receive Rs. 15,000 for each game.
