Despite Phil Salt’s leap, there is still plenty of space between the rest of the field and Suryakumar Yadav in the lead, with the India batter sitting on 887.

England opener Phil Salt’s amazing form has lifted him to second on the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, with a career-high rating of 802. Salt was one of several players from the high-scoring West Indies vs. England T20I series in the Caribbean to benefit from the new update on Wednesday. The England opener’s scores of 119 and 38 in Trinidad took him up 18 places to a career-high rating of 802, 15 rating points ahead of Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan in third (787), according to the ICC.

Despite Salt’s leap, there is still plenty of space between the rest of the field and Suryakumar Yadav in the lead, with the India hitter sitting on 887.

Liam Livingstone, another English batter, rose 27 places to 38th in the batting rankings after hitting 54* and 28 in the same matches. Livingstone’s efforts also helped him move up four ranks to eighth (175) in the all-rounder category. His move left countrymen Moeen Ali and Shadab Khan of Pakistan tied for seventh (173).

West Indies won the five-match T20I series 3-2, winning the final match partly due to their bowling, which held England to 132 before completing a chase in the final over six wickets down.

Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein took 2/20 from four overs in the win, moving up to fourth (683), passing Sri Lankans Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana (679 and 677, respectively). Gudakesh Motie rose 75 ranks after taking 3/24 (4) in the same outing, while England’s Reece Topley jumped 13 spots thanks to five wickets in two matches this week.

Meanwhile, the One-Day International (ODI) series between New Zealand and Bangladesh, as well as India’s tour to South Africa, have resulted in a few small changes.

Meanwhile, the ODI series between New Zealand and Bangladesh, as well as India’s tour to South Africa, have resulted in a few small changes.

Shoriful Islam rose 24 places to 35th after a strong performance with the ball in hand, while Arshdeep Singh, a promising Indian left-armer, rose 41 places but remains outside the top 100.

On the batting front, Najmul Hossain Shanto (up nine ranks to equal-49th) made a move, while South Africa’s Tony de Zorzi burst into the top 100 with a 39-spot rise.

Soumya Sarkar’s 169-run innings against the Black Caps helped him move 52 spots, while Sanju Samson rose 54 spots to a rating of 405.

Sarkar eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar’s 13-year record for the highest ODI score by a subcontinent player in New Zealand, defeating The Little Master’s 163* in Christchurch.

Samson batted at No. 3 and hit 108 (114) as India defended 296 in the third ODI against the Proteas in Paarl.
