England Stuart Broad announced his retirement from cricket at the end of the third day of the fifth Ashes Test against Australia at The Kia Oval.
The 37-year-old revealed the news at the end of day three of the fifth Ashes Test between England and Australia at The Kia Oval.Broad, who has 167 matches and is the leading wicket-taker in this summer’s Ashes series, has played a significant role in the England Test team since his debut against Sri Lanka in December 2007.
The right-arm seamer played in 56 international T20 matches and 121 one-day internationals. He made his first-class debut for Leicestershire in 2005 before switching to Nottinghamshire.
When play on day three came to an end, Broad informed Sky Sports Cricket, “Today or Monday will be my last game of cricket.” The opportunity to wear the Nottinghamshire and England badge for as long as I have has been an incredible honour.
“I’m enjoying cricket as much as I ever have; it’s been a beautiful series to take part in, and I’ve always wanted to come out on top.
This series has felt like the most amazing and enjoyable experience to be a part of.
