A team chef has been hired by the Ben Stokes-led England for the upcoming three-Test tour of Pakistan. A personal team chef has been hired following a debrief from the limited-overs England side that toured Pakistan earlier this year for seven T20 International matches prior to the T20 World Cup. According to the same report, the players and support staff from the limited-overs side complained that the food was subpar. Even some England players experienced stomachaches at various points during the seven-match T20I series against Pakistan.

Omar Meziane, who served in a similar capacity for the England men’s football team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2020, will serve as the team chef for England. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be sending a specially hired chef on a foreign tour for the first time. Three Test matches between England and Pakistan are scheduled to start on December 1, with the first match taking place in Rawalpindi. Karachi and Multan will host the next two Test matches.

England’s acting captain Mooen Ali discussed the culinary differences between Lahore and Karachi during the T20I series against Pakistan. “Food-wise, I have been a little bit disappointed in Lahore. Karachi was really nice,” Moeen said. The T20I series, which consisted of seven games, was won by England during their earlier year tour of Pakistan 4-3. The Three Lions later went on to win the T20 World Cup.
