Brydon Carse, who in October signed a central contract with England, acknowledged that he had wagered 303 times on different cricket events in 2017 and 2019.

It was revealed on Friday that England pacer Brydon Carse has been suspended from all cricket for three months due to bet-related infractions.Following an anti-corruption probe by the English game’s Cricket Regulator, the 28-year-old, who was selected for England’s 50-over World Cup squad six months prior, was handed a 16-month suspension, of which 13 months were suspended.Carse, who in October signed a central contract with England, acknowledged that he had wagered 303 times on different cricket events between 2017 and 2019, although not on matches in which he was involved.

No “professional participant” (player, coach, or any support staff) is allowed to wager on any cricket anywhere in the world as a result of the Durham quick’s continued violations of integrity regulations.

Carse, who was born in South Africa and has played in 17 England white-ball internationals, will now be barred indefinitely from participating in any cricket matches until August 28.

On the other hand, Carse will not be subject to any more penalties as long as he doesn’t commit any anti-corruption offenses during the following two years.

Carse posted a statement on Durham’s website that read, “While these bets were several years ago, that is no excuse and I take full responsibility for my actions.”

“I would want to express my gratitude to Durham Cricket, the Professional Cricketers’ Association of England, and the England and Wales Cricket Board for their assistance during this trying period for me.

“I will be working hard in the next 12 weeks to ensure that I repay that support on the field when I am able to return to playing.”

A representative for the ECB stated: “We take these matters extremely seriously and do not condone any form of anti-corruption breach in cricket.”We agree with the Cricket Regulator’s ruling and their assessment of Brydon’s case’s mitigating circumstances.

“He has cooperated and expressed regret for his deeds. We are confident that in the five years after this breach, Brydon has matured and exhibited a deeper comprehension of his obligations.

“We are hopeful that his case can serve as an educational example for other cricketers.”

Carse last played for England in December of last year in a one-day international in Antigua against the West Indies.

Since the final of England’s six Test matches in the format will take place at home against Sri Lanka at The Oval starting on September 6, just over a week after Carson’s suspension ends, his penalty essentially prevents him from making his Test debut this season.
