England defeated Serbia on Sunday at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen to begin their Euro 2024 campaign.

On Sunday, England defeated Serbia at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen to kick off their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign. In the dramatic match, Jude Bellingham was the Three Lions’ standout player, scoring the game-winning goal. He made his point in just 13 minutes in the Group C opener. However, a major confrontation between English and Serbian fans occurred prior to this match, which drew everyone’s attention.

Some Albanian fans were also involved in the violent altercation that occurred at a Gelsenkirchen tavern. According to accounts, the Albanian fans instigated the fight with Serbian fans, their bitter rivals.

Moments after, English fans joined in, resulting in a massive brawl. Many videos and photographs from the incident went viral on social media, showing broken tables, chairs, and glass bottles.

“There was an unexpected outbreak of violence. It came out of nowhere. It was unclear who had initiated what. But to me, it appeared that a gang of England fans rushed the pub where Serbs were drinking, and it all started with tables, chairs, and bottles thrown,” one eyewitness told MailOnline.

“One man had blood pouring from a head wound – he was English, I believe,” the eyewitness continued.

German police later deemed the match between England and Serbia to be “high risk” due to the clash, which resulted in the arrest of seven Serbian fans.

Regarding the game, Bellingham began the play in midfield with a measured pass to Kyle Walker before sprinting into the penalty area to meet Bukayo Saka’s cross with a stunning diving header that arrowed into the net from six yards.

After being swamped by his teammates, Bellingham demonstrated his ease in the spotlight, soaking up the adoration of the England fans with his arms outstretched before sprinting to the centre circle to rouse the crowd at the opposite end.

Bellingham has experience scoring England’s first goal in a major tournament, having done it against Iran in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.Bellingham is the first European player to play in three major championships before turning 21, having already competed in Euro 2020 and the recent World Cup.
