After the team’s 3-1 loss to Australia in the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) last month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) loosened its strict regulations prohibiting family members from traveling with them to the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai. According to the BCCI, families are only permitted to accompany players for two weeks for series longer than forty-five days, although they are not permitted to accompany players for the whole of the tour. With their arrival on February 15, India will remain in Dubai for no more than 25 days, even if they go to the 2025 Champions Trophy final, which is set for March 9.
The BCCI has now permitted parents and spouses to accompany the squad in Dubai for a single game, according to a report by Dainik Jagran. According to the published article, a senior team management member conferred with the board secretary, and the decision was made to permit players to bring their families to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a single match because the competition is brief. The athletes choose which match they would like their parents or partners to attend. Before granting permission, the team management must submit a list of which players and which matches they would like their families to attend in Dubai.
All of India’s games will be held at the Dubai International Stadium, beginning with a match against Bangladesh on February 20 and ending with the highly anticipated showdown between bitter rivals Pakistan in February. On March 2, the Men in Blue will take on New Zealand in the last league stage match. India will play the first semi-final on March 4 if they place in the top two of their group. If India qualifies, the March 9 summit match will now be held in Dubai instead of Lahore.
