Virat has scored 12,092 runs at a 41.26 average in 378 games, including eight centuries and 92 fifties.
Virat Kohli of the Star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has scored his 100th T20 fifty-plus, becoming the first Indian and only the third player to do so. Virat achieved this feat during RCB’s Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Chinaswammy Stadium. The 35-year-old was back to his classic form in the encounter after a dismal performance against the Chennai Super Kings. He scored 77 runs off 49 deliveries, including 11 fours and two sixes. He ran at a strike rate of more than 157.
Virat has 12,092 runs in 378 games at an average of 41.26, including eight centuries and 92 fifties. His top score is 122*. Virat is India’s top T20 scorer and sixth overall.
Above Virat, West Indies batting great Chris Gayle (110 fifty-plus scores, including 22 centuries) and Australian great David Warner (109 fifty-plus scores, including eight centuries) have scored the most.
Coming into the match, Punjab Kings (PBKS) saw their batters receive starts, but none of them were able to turn it into something significant. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan (45 in 37 balls with five fours and a six), Jitesh Sharma (27 in 20 balls with a four and two sixes), and Sam Curran (23 in 17 balls) all had good performances, but PBKS could only produce 176/6 in 20 overs on a batting friendly Chinnaswammy.
Mohammed Siraj (2/26) and Glenn Maxwell (2/29) both took two scalps. Both Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph took wickets.
RCB kept losing wickets frequently in their chase of 177, but Virat (77 in 49 balls, with 11 fours and 2 sixes) kept the ship afloat at the other end. Following his removal, things were difficult for RCB, but with four balls remaining, Dinesh Karthik (28* in 10 balls, three fours and two sixes) and Mahipal Lomror (17* in eight balls, two fours and a six) helped the side win by four wickets.
For PBKS, the two best bowlers were Kagiso Rabada (2/23) and Harpreet Brar (2/13).
