On the sidelines of the Dharamsala Test, BCCI officials spoke with their England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) counterparts about their players’ availability for the IPL. Test regulars such as skipper Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Mark Wood had previously withdrawn from the lucrative T20 league as part of the ECB’s workload management strategy following the five-Test series’ conclusion in Dharamsala on Sunday.
“Bairstow is expected to arrive in India on March 18 or 19 and will be available for the team’s first game against Delhi Capitals on March 23,” according to a source in the IPL.
Bairstow, who played his 100th Test at Dharamsala, had a forgettable spell with the bat in India and will be hoping to get back in the running in the IPL.
